Taking as a reference the Valladolid writer Miguel Delibes’ novel, “The Heretic”, Azar Teatro stages a dramatization of some of the most significant events from the main character’s biography, in the same places where they happen, going with the route which the Tourism Office of Valladolid Town Hall made as a tribute to the writer and as an excuse to go over some of the city’s most famous landmarks.

Our work is not only reproducing some excerpts from the novel, but we do try to enrich the proposal by creating characters that belong to the present time and going over the historical context of the city and the novel. We bring together information and amusement equally. On the one hand, the rigorous explanations regarding our heritage and our history; and, on the other hand, the fresh improvisation, humour and continuous surprise.

This performance has become on its own right one of the most demanded events during the Renaissance Week that is celebrated annually in our city, to the extent of turning some of our characters in true icons in this celebration. Including actors, musicians, technicians and tourist guides, more than twenty people take part in it. This show is one of our most popularly celebrated and acclaimed works.
